MOPS
stands for Mothers of Preschoolers, a
program designed for mothers with
children under school age. |
MOPS
meets the needs of every mom - urban and
suburban moms, stay-at-home and working
moms, teen, single, and married moms -
moms with different lifestyles who all
share a similar desire to be the very
best moms they can be!
|
| The
goal of MOPS International is to nurture
every mother of preschoolers and to
reach out through encouragement and
effective leadership opportunities.
More
than 2000 MOPS groups are meeting across
the United States and around the world,
providing a caring, accepting atmosphere
for today's mothers to grow and share
their experiences with other women.

"MOPS
encourages me to reach deep inside for
the contributions I have to make in all
areas of my life. I've seen it work the
same wonders in many other women as
well." |
MOPS
Groups offer:
While
each MOPS program will reflect the personality of
the Chartering Church and the moms involved, the
foundational aspects of a MOPS program include:

Teaching:
Presentations from MOPS Mentors and outside
speakers offer information that is relevant to the
life of a mother. Topics may explore a mom's
emotional needs, practical instruction, and
special times of celebrating motherhood.

Mentoring:
MOPS Mentors are experienced mothers who
help new moms grow personally and as
parents. Through the relationships built
in MOPS groups, mentors share wisdom
from their own experience and practical
and meaningful ways to fulfill the
varied roles of mother, woman, and wife.

Discussion Groups:
The intimate and accepting atmosphere
of a small group offers moms a chance to share
their successes, questions, and concerns. It is
during these times that a mom realizes that she is
not alone, and lifelong friendships are formed.
| "MOPS
opens doors and lets women know that
mothering and mothers matter. MOPS means
I am able to share the joys,
frustrations, and insecurities of being
a mom. It’s important to feel normal
and not alone. Burdens are lifted when
the woman next to me says, ‘I know
exactly how you feel!’" |

Creative
Activities: Moms are also
given the opportunity to express
themselves creatively during MOPS
meetings. Through craft projects and
life skills presentations, women are
encouraged to experience the sense of
accomplishment that comes with trying
and finishing new things.

MOPPETS
& LITTLE LAMBS: Children
are cared for during MOPS meetings in
parallel programs called MOPPETS and
LITTLE LAMBS, where they experience love
in a preschool-like setting.

Leadership
Development: Moms also gain confidence
in their leadership skills through training and
experience they receive from MOPS. Not only are
MOPS groups specifically for mothers of
preschoolers, meetings are organized and run by
mothers of preschoolers, who often move into other
areas of leadership in their church or community
after graduating from MOPS.
